What’s in a name? A lot
believes the UK unit of Dutch insurer Aegon which on 1 September
will change the name of its asset management unit Aegon Asset
Management to Kames Capital.
The move is aimed at
accelerate growth of the asset management unit’s third party
business by creating a clear distinction between itself as a
specialist investment manager and other Aegon units which focus on
life and pensions business.
“The decision to rebrand our
UK business reflects our desire to ensure alignment with the
specific needs of all our customers,” said Aegon Asset Management
CEO Sarah Russell.
“The Aegon Asset Management
brand is a highly regarded symbol of the investment expertise we
have developed to support our insurance businesses.
“In distinguishing our UK
investment management activities under the Kames Capital brand, we
will highlight our capabilities for investors in the external
market.”
