Speciality re/insurance MGA Rokstone has created a specialist agriculture division to strengthen its presence in the US market.

The new unit, Rokstone Agriculture Risk Underwriters, will be launching an online quote and buy platform for livestock cover.

The digital platform will offer a variety of specialist livestock and equine products.

Rokstone Agriculture Risk Underwriters will be led by underwriting specialist Eric Conklin, who will be joining from AXA XL. He has over 20 years of experience in underwriting livestock and equine business.

The new unit will leverage the expertise and technical capabilities of Rokstone’s iFarm Underwriting business in the UK.

It will join Rokstone’s US construction underwriting division, Rokstone Construction Risk Underwriters.

Conklin said: “It is an area that has suffered from lack of innovation and the hard market has been punishing. We plan to disrupt the underwriting approach with one of the US market’s first online quote and buy facilities for livestock risks.”

Rokstone chief digital distribution officer Tony Lawrence added: “Our specialist knowledge, use of technology and approach to underwriting means we can provide broader, more relevant cover, that’s quicker to secure than anywhere else.”

Last month, Wingsure, a spinout insurtech venture of SRI International, developed a mobile app to offer bespoke insurance products to small farmers worldwide.

Wingsure claims that its app can verify, and process claims within minutes, which previously took three to 12 months.
