INZMO, a Berlin, Germany-based insurtech company, has launched RentalBot, an AI-driven legal chatbot designed to support tenants and landlords.
This AI tool aims to simplify access to legal information and can provide assistance in Germany’s market, where nearly half of the population is said to be living in rented accommodation, Insurtech Insights reported.
INZMO highlighted that the German rental market, known for its complexity, often requires tenants and landlords to seek legal support to manage disputes and protect their rights.
RentalBot provides expert insights on common tenancy issues but does not replace the need for a human lawyer or legal representation in court.
It offers tailored advice on housing and tenant protection laws.
Although RentalBot cannot create document templates, it can guide users on their structure and content.

By GlobalDataAvailable on the INZMO website, the new service operates on a pay-per-consult basis, with an introductory offer of €4.99 ($5.41) to get 24-hour access.
Prices for RentalBot will increase to €9.99 for 24-hour access, starting 19 June 2024. INZMO also plans to introduce a monthly subscription option.
The new chatbot has been developed in collaboration between INZMO and AI-powered legal assistant ChatLegal.
RentalBot has been trained and trialled on German rental laws and court cases in a real-world setting to ensure accurate guidance.
Utilising natural language processing and machine learning, RentalBot can address queries on rental increases, lease terms and contractual obligations, deposit disputes, evictions, maintenance and repair issues and more.
According to INZMO, the chatbot is designed to demystify legal jargon, making information accessible and understandable, and is available round-the-clock in both English and German.
Insurtech Insights quoted INZMO chief product and experience officer Reelika Ein as saying: “The current economic environment, with rising interest rates and increased costs, is putting a strain on the rental market and we expect a continued rise in the need for legal support.
“By working with ChatLegal to train an AI-powered chatbot specifically on German rental laws and common legal issues, we can offer users a simple, fast and affordable way to access the information and guidance they need, 24/7, before issues potentially escalate and require more comprehensive legal support.”
