Zurich subsidiary Zurich Insurance Company (Singapore) has appointed Matt Graves as its new chief claims officer.
Graves brings over two decades of industry experience to the role and will report directly to Liam Burrell, Singapore CEO and head of commercial insurance Asia.
His background in the insurance sector includes key roles at Allianz, Suncorp, and Zurich, with a focus on emphasis on claims management.
Since joining Zurich in 2016, Graves has held leadership positions, most recently overseeing the short-tail lines claims business for Singapore, and managing all regional teams for real estate, global energy, construction, and marine.
In his new capacity, he will be responsible for all claims functions within Zurich Singapore’s commercial and retail segments.
He will also be an executive committee member of the subsidiary, where he will focus on simplifying the claims experience.
Commenting on Graves’ appointment, Burrell said: “I am pleased to have a seasoned claims executive of Matt’s calibre take on this critical role. Zurich is focused on delivering our customers and partners an efficient and smooth claims experience and Matt’s significant operational and technical expertise will further enhance our claims proposition and performance.”
Earlier this week, Zurich Financial Services Australia announced a partnership with the University of Technology Sydney.
The collaboration aims to develop artificial intelligence models to optimise the underwriting process for life insurance.
Additionally, Zurich Insurance recently partnered with BOXX Insurance to launch a personal cyber insurance product in Switzerland.
Called the Zurich Cyber Security App, it is designed to provide emergency assistance and services to assist people and families in fending off online attacks.
