HDI Global Insurance Company, part of international commercial insurer HDI Global, has established its inland marine unit in the US.  

This move is part of the company’s strategy to broaden its specialty product offerings and capabilities within the US market.  

Rebecca Molosky will spearhead the unit as the head of inland marine. 

She will report to HDI Global US chief underwriting officer Marco Hensel. 

Molosky has been working in the insurance space for more than two decades, having previously held various claims and underwriting positions at Marsh, Travelers and CNA.  

Operating from Ohio, her initial focus will be on developing the Midwest book with an emphasis on construction and transportation risks.

HDI Global plans to expand the inland marine unit’s reach to all 50 states by early 2025, leveraging the company’s network capabilities.

Additionally, HDI Global named Michael Ahn as the new CEO of HDI Global Hong Kong, effective 1 November 2024.  

Ahn, currently head of business solutions Asia-Pacific at SCOR, has more than 31 years of insurance experience including a background in commercial and specialty single risk lines and facultative reinsurance.  

Daniel Lau, with 30 years at HDI group and 20 years as CEO of the Hong Kong branch, will transition to the role of director Asia-Pacific Network.  

Meanwhile, in June, HDI Global Insurance Company partnered with First Indemnity Insurance Agency to introduce a new lawyers’ professional liability insurance product.  

This errors and omissions policy is designed specifically for small to mid-sized law firms with up to 50 attorneys, offering liability coverage for legal service providers.
