Insurance broker Marsh has named Will Thomas-Ferrand as the head of its captive insurance business, effective 1 January 2025.
Thomas-Ferrand, who currently holds the position of international practice leader at Marsh Captive Solutions, will report to Pat Donnelly, president of Marsh Specialty and Global Placement, from his base in London.
Thomas-Ferrand, with two decades of experience at Marsh, has served in various capacities within the company’s captive unit.
His previous roles include leading Marsh’s captive business in Malta and a seven-year stint focused on US clients in Bermuda.
In his forthcoming role, Thomas-Ferrand aims to further the advancement of the global captive insurance industry, which is increasingly being utilised by organisations to mitigate emerging risks such as those posed by climate change and cybersecurity.
This leadership change will follow the retirement of Ellen Charnley, the current president of Marsh Captive Solutions, at the end of this year.

His vision is expected to guide Marsh’s captive insurance business through the evolving landscape of global risks.
In August this year, Marsh introduced a blockage insurance solution for covering shipping ports and terminals.
