Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has announced the appointment of two key executives in Italy.

Vincenza Viele has been named head of claims while Alessandro Majerna will take on the role of head of professional indemnity (PI) and cyber for Executive & Professional Lines. Both are based out of Milan.

Majerna has over 15 years in professional indemnity and cyber insurance.

Viele comes with more than two decades of experience in loss adjusting and claims management and her career includes handling complex property and casualty claims for both large corporate customers and multinational programmes.  

BHSI Italy country manager Leonardo Castrichino said: “We are excited to expand our team in Italy with professionals who bring both excellent capabilities and strong character to our organisation. 

“It is particularly exciting that Vincenza is joining our leadership team to oversee the delivery of our all-important product, exceptional claims service.”

Last month, BHSI appointed Kristina Målarbo as head of claims for the Nordics.  

Lars Messutat has been named head of general property for DACH, with Juliane Klein-Walbeck taking on the role of head of energy and construction for the same region.

Thomas Pache has been appointed to lead the newly launched PI and cyber insurance lines in the DACH region. 

In August, Kiran Prakash was appointed as head of first party lines for Asia, and Jessie Yuen was promoted to head of energy.
