US-based supplemental health insurance provider Aflac has appointed JR Shamley to the newly created role of senior vice-president of National Account Business Development and Growth Solutions.
Shamley’s primary responsibility will be to align distribution and business strategies to boost profitable growth within the national accounts segment.
Before joining Aflac, he held the position of senior vice-president, Time Away and Life Solutions Practice Leader at Aon. In this role, he led consulting for large employers in the absence, life and disability space, and was instrumental in driving voluntary and executive benefit sales.
With more than three decades of experience, Shamley’s professional background includes senior roles at other insurance companies such as Prudential, AIG and the Hartford.
His expertise is expected to be an asset to Aflac’s national accounts segment, which caters to employers with 5,000 or more covered lives, offering supplemental health, life insurance, disability insurance and absence management solutions.
Aflac National Accounts senior vice-president Scott Beeman said: “JR is a strategic thinker with extensive experience developing solutions for the group benefits marketplace.
