Allianz has partnered with Fudan University in China to support finance and insurance research.  

This alliance is formed around the Fudan-Allianz Finance and Insurance Research Centre, which focuses on innovations in technology, risk management and solutions for an ageing population.  

In addition, the tie-up involves the sponsorship of the Allianz Auditorium within the School of Economics’ new building at Fudan University.  

The auditorium is expected to become a focal point for financial discussions, literacy and stakeholder engagement in financial matters. 

During the launch event, Allianz SE member of the board of management Renate Wagner was honoured with a guest professorship at Fudan University’s School of Economics.  

The appointment certificate was presented by the school’s Dean, Professor Zhang Jun.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries such as Vice Mayor of Shanghai Wu Wei and Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Gu Jun.  

Gu Jun stated: “We look forward to the strong alliance  between Allianz and Fudan, that not only promotes the deep integration of academic research and financial practice but also provides strong support for the cultivation of talents in the financial sector in Shanghai, enhancing Shanghai’s influence as an international financial centre and gateway.”  

Representing Fudan University were chair of University Council Qiu Xin, vice-president Chen Zhimin, and dean of the School of Economics Zhang Jun.  

Xin said: “Fudan will enhance collaborative innovation with Allianz, utilising scientific planning, a pragmatic approach, and effective measures to transform the Fudan-Allianz Financial and Insurance Research Centre into a pivotal think-tank research platform that spearheads industry development, thereby injecting new vitality into the construction of Shanghai’s international financial centre.”  

From Allianz, attendees included Renate Wagner, Allianz China CEO Danny Lam and CEOs of Allianz business entities in China. 

Renate Wagner added: “The partnership with Fudan underscores Allianz’s confidence to the Chinese market and marks an important step in deepening our local presence. Together, Allianz and Fudan aspire to unlock opportunities for meaningful innovation, aiming to make a lasting impact on the sustainable development of the financial sector in Shanghai, across China and around the world.”
