Howden has forged a three-year alliance to become the official insurance broker partner of the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix Team (Emirates GBR).

The tie-up is said to align with Howden’s focus on the marine, yachting, sport and entertainment, and specialty segments.

Emirates GBR is competing in the SailGP series, a global sailing championship.

The 2025 Rolex SailGP Championship will feature 12 teams competing across 14 locations on five continents in identical 50ft foiling catamarans.

These foiling catamarans can reach speeds exceeding 100km an hour (60mph).

The event will see top sailors competing for a total prize fund of $12.8m.

Emirates GBR CEO Sir Ben Ainslie said:“Howden’s marine expertise and its determination to use insurance as a force for good chimes with our own work on climate education, renewable energy, gender equity and creating pathways for more diversity in the marine industry.”

Howden CEO David Howden stated: “We are both celebrating expertise. We both believe in our collective power to drive innovation and inspire. We are both committed to attracting and nurturing the best talent from all walks of life. Now we have got the wind in our sails, the adrenaline is pumping and I wish Emirates GBR every success for the coming season.”

Last month, Howden announced a leadership overhaul in its Asia unit, with Rohan Bhappu named deputy CEO of Howden Asia, effective June 2025. Bhappu will assume the role of CEO of Howden Asia on 1 October 2025.
