Amwins Global Risks (AGR), the international division of specialty insurance broker Amwins, has restructured its business to bolster its underwriting capabilities.  

This move is aimed at offering a consistent approach, aligning resources effectively and deepening carrier partnerships.

Amwins International Underwriting – an umbrella brand for three underwriting entities – strengthened its position for growth by streamlining its operations to integrate new products into its platform.  

The restructuring has led to the creation of three underwriting entities, each with a specific focus to support business expansion.  

These entities, spearheaded by managing director Simon Jackson, comprise Unicorn Underwriting, Contour Underwriting and Amwins Amplify.  

Unicorn is a UK-based managing general agent (MGA) specialising in fleet and commercial risk, while Contour is a specialty lines MGA initially focused on Marine Cargo coverage, with plans to expand in 2025.

As part of these plans, Unicorn Underwriting’s Worldwide Property team will be rebranded as Contour Underwriting in 2025, while maintaining the same products and client service.  

The remainder of Unicorn Underwriting will continue its operations unchanged, with a focus on expanding its UK offerings within the MGA. 

AGR CEO Nick Abraham said: “We are excited to unveil this new structure, which will further strengthen our underwriting capabilities and provide a solid foundation for our underwriters to focus and thrive.  

“It means we come to the market with clear strategies and a focus for those unique disciplines.” 

Jackson stated: “Contour Underwriting will be a cornerstone of this new structure. We are excited to have Jack Bryan leading Marine Cargo, the first product line of Contour Underwriting. His experience and leadership are invaluable as we expand into new specialty areas and further strengthen our international offering.”  

Last month, Amwins acquired Superior Underwriters, an MGA based in Bellevue, Washington, US.
