International specialty insurer Tokio Marine Kiln has appointed Jake Burgess as Fine Art and Specie Underwriter and Ella Henderson as Life Sciences Underwriter.

Burgess holds over ten years of insurance experience in underwriting and claims and most recently served as underwriting manager for AXA XL.

Henderson brings six years’ insurance experience across broking and underwriting to the role, having begun her career at CFC Underwriting before taking up a role at Superscript specialising in medical technology (“Medtech”). She will report to Head of Life Sciences, Kirsten Shastri.

Vivek Syal, chief underwriting officer at TMK, said: “Having Jake and Ella come aboard demonstrates our commitment to strengthening our depth of talent across the business. Both bring a wealth of experience and a strong track record of delivery that will help us further enhance our leading capabilities across two key strategic growth areas, and we know they will help us deliver on our ambitions.”

In October 2024, Tokio Marine Kiln announced the appointment of Thomas McShane as the head of technology and media errors & omissions (E&O).

McShane will take on the role in January 2025 and report to Laila Khudairi, the departmental head of cyber and enterprise risk at Tokio Marine Kiln.

In this newly created position, McShane will focus on bolstering TMK’s global cyber and technology proposition.

It also unveiled a cyber extension to its event cancellation insurance product.

The extension is designed to address the growing risk of malicious cyber actions that can disrupt events, offering comprehensive coverage and support services.

It is in response to the increasing demand for integrated event cancellation and cyber risk solutions.
