AXA XL UK & Lloyd’s business unit has named Louise Nevill as its new chief underwriting officer – Specialty and Sundeep Khera as head of marine and energy.

The move is part of a restructuring of AXA XL’s underwriting model, spearheaded by UK & Lloyd’s chief underwriting officer Mike Gosselin.

Nevill, reporting directly to Gosselin, will oversee the Specialty business.

This encompasses energy, marine and aerospace; equine, livestock and aquaculture; fine art and specie; political risk, credit & bond; political violence, security risk and product recall; and sports, media and entertainment.

Most recently, Nevill worked as CEO of Marine, Cargo, and Logistics at Marsh Specialty UK, where she has amassed nearly 30 years of industry experience.

Khera has served as global chief underwriting officer for Marine Hull, and head of marine underwriting, UK & Lloyd’s since 2021.

He will assume his new role with immediate effect and report to Nevill upon her arrival at AXA XL later this year.

Khera held various positions in shipping operations, stowage planning and commercial and general management before joining AXA in 2013.

Gosselin said: “Having aligned these products under one combined specialty pillar, we are confident that this will enhance collaboration with brokers at all levels, and ultimately strengthen our relationships and our ability to meet the diverse needs of our clients.

“Both Louise and Sundeep are extremely respected in the market, and Louise specifically will play a key role in supercharging our entire speciality function, while maintaining underwriting discipline and optimising profitability.”

Earlier this month, AXA XL partnered with Darkweb IQ, aiming to bolster cybersecurity for its cyber insurance clients by offering them “preferential pricing” for Darkweb IQ’s services.
