US auto insurer GEICO has revealed plans to expand its presence in Florida and North Texas, adding more than 1,000 new jobs in each region.

In Florida, the insurer will open a new campus in Tampa.

The new facility, set to occupy 190,000ft² across three buildings near Tampa International Airport, will begin operations this summer.

The new Tampa location will offer a variety of career opportunities in insurance sales, service and claims, with leadership development programmes aimed at nurturing future managers.

The company’s Florida workforce currently stands at nearly 3,800 employees based in Jacksonville and Lakeland, with an additional legal workforce across the state.

Commenting on the Florida expansion, GEICO senior vice-president Angela Rinella said: “As Florida’s second-largest auto insurer and the third largest in the United States, we are thrilled to expand our footprint in the Sunshine State. Tampa’s robust talent pool and dynamic business environment make it the ideal location for our newest office, allowing us to better serve our growing customer base with various insurance products while creating significant employment opportunities in the region.”

The expansion in North Texas involves the addition of a second building in Richardson, with a new 165,000ft² facility scheduled to open in late 2025.

In December 2024, the insurer designated Richardson as a “key hub” for its commercial insurance operations and announced plans to create 500 new positions.

Once completed, GEICO will occupy nearly 400,000ft² of office space across two buildings in Richardson.

Speaking for North Texas, GEICO senior vice-president Melissa Gallaro stated: “The outstanding talent pool in North Texas has been instrumental in driving GEICO’s success and we are thrilled to expand our presence in Richardson. The skilled workforce in the region has enabled us to achieve significant growth while creating valuable career opportunities for the local community.”
