Applied Underwriters has spun off its United Risk subsidiary as an independent and stand-alone operating company.
United Risk will remain affiliated with Applied and its related entities.

Since its inception in November 2023, United Risk has experienced considerable growth, and now offers a global property and casualty (P&C) underwriting platform that includes 28 managing general agent (MGA) and managing general underwriter (MGU) programmes.
The company operates more than 30 offices worldwide, with a team exceeding 250 individuals in cities such as New York, London and Paris.

United Risk CFO Alex Amezquita stated: “Applied has facilitated and incubated every step of United Risk’s platform for growth up to this point. Now, there is much new ground to cover and new vistas to explore as we emerge as an insurance and financial powerhouse.”
Earlier this month, United Risk appointed Amezquita as its CFO, succeeding Jay Cahill, who will now lead the company’s newly established reinsurance division as CEO.
Amezquita responsibilities include overseeing the financial operations of United Risk’s various divisions including insurance, surety, as well as other specialty areas.
Cahill will lead the development of the new multi-line reinsurance MGA.
The division is preparing for select placements for the June, July and October 2025 renewals and is on track to have fully operational offices in New York, London and Bermuda by 1 January 2026.
United Risk Global serves as an international P&C insurance underwriting and distribution platform.
