Building on a decade-long
relationship with IBM, Canada’s largest life insurer Manulife
Financial has entered into an outsourcing agreement with the US
technology giant worth a total of about C$630m ($660m) over the
agreement’s seven-year life.
Under the agreement, IBM will
provide Manulife with infrastructure services for mainframe,
mid-range server, storage and desktop services.
Manulife chief information
officer Joe Cooper said: “This contract will provide us with
leading-edge technologies in the efficient and effective growth of
our business.”
In addition to direct
outsourcing, IBM will also assist Manulife in the operation of its
business continuity, disaster recovery and security
systems.
