Munich Re America’s decision to install a 2.5 megawatt solar power
system at its Plainsboro facility in New Jersey. According to
Munich Re America, the solar power system will result in an annual
reduction in electricity costs of almost $500,000.
Commenting, Tony Kuczinski,
president and CEO of Munich Re America, said: “The success of our
core business is inextricably linked to environmental protection,
so a sustainable approach is an indispensable component of our
business strategy.”
Environmental benefit of the solar power system will be
the equivalent of removing 400 cars from the road, noted Munich Re
America. The initiative forms part of Munich Re’s goal of becoming
carbon neutral throughout its worldwide reinsurance operations by
2012.
