July 2021 has seen a decrease of 12.1% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 12.57% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering an increase of 0.37% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 47.48% in July 2021, a 22.35% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 21.58% in July 2021, marking a 36.17% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 16.55% in July 2021, a 4.55% growth from June 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 23.12% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s insurance industry during July 2021 over previous month.
Discovery posted 64 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered an increase of 20.75% over the previous month, followed by Sanlam with 58 jobs and a 50% drop. Old Mutual with 5 IT jobs and Dai-ichi Life Holdings with 4 jobs, recorded a 25% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Grupo de Inversiones Suramericana recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during July 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s insurance industry
South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s insurance industry IT hiring activity with a 92.81% share in July 2021, a 25.43% decline over June 2021. South Sudan featured next with a 2.88% share, flat growth over the previous month. United Arab Emirates recorded a 2.16% share, a growth of 200% compared with June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.47%, down by 8.08% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 28.06% share, a decline of 37.1% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.47% share, down 40% over June 2021.
