August 2021 has seen an increase of 15.22% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 9.95% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering a decrease of 1.11% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 58.49% in August 2021, a 32.86% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 23.27% in August 2021, marking a 12.12% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 8.18% in August 2021, a 40.91% drop from July 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 12.41% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s insurance industry during August 2021 over previous month.
Sanlam posted 89 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 39.06% over the previous month, followed by Discovery with 47 jobs and a 26.56% drop. Old Mutual with 12 IT jobs and New York Life Insurance with 3 jobs, recorded a 50% rise and a flat growth, respectively, while Intercorp Financial Services recorded a 200% increase with 3 job postings during August 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s insurance industry
South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s insurance industry IT hiring activity with a 92.45% share in August 2021, a 6.52% increase over July 2021. Lebanon featured next with a 1.89% share, flat growth over the previous month. Saudi Arabia recorded a 1.89% share, a flat growth compared with July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.44%, up by 20.43% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 27.04% share, registered a decline of 2.27% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 2.52% share, down 55.56% over July 2021.
