Tokio Marine HCC, a US-based specialist insurer, has named Susan Rivera as its new CEO, effective 1 September 2018.
She will replace outgoing CEO Christopher Williams, who will assume the role of managing executive officer and co-head of international business for Tokio Marine Holdings.
Rivera served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Tokio Marine HCC since 1 April 2018.
Prior to that, she worked as president and CEO of V3 Insurance Partners from 2009 to until earlier this year. She has been a founding shareholder of V3 Insurance Partners.
She was an independent member of Tokio Marine HCC’s board from 2014 to 2015, and served on the audit, compensation and enterprise risk oversight committees.
From 2007 to 2009, she served as president of QBE Specialty and chief actuary of the Americas division of QBE Insurance Group Limited.

By GlobalDataEarlier, she acted as president and chief underwriting officer of Praetorian Insurance Company from 2006 until its acquisition by QBE in 2007.
Prior to 2006, she worked for 15 years at AIG, holding a variety of positions of increasing responsibility.
Rivera said: “As a board member and more recently as a member of the executive management team, I have become very familiar with Tokio Marine HCC’s business leaders and lines of business and am excited to be offered the opportunity to lead this outstanding organisation with its very talented team of people as we continue to grow the company and build on its past successes.”
