AIG Life has added a virtual care service, Smart Health, to all of its individual and group protection offerings.
The online tool willl give all members unlimited, tailored support on demanded. In addition, it comes at no extra cost via smartphones, tablets and PCs. The virtual care service also allows AIG customers to manage general non-critical physical and mental health needs, as well as chronic complex care.
Teladoc Health will provide the service. It already provides the Best Doctors second opinion service to AIG Life’s individual customers.
Sue Helmont, marketing director at AIG Life, said: “AIG celebrates its 100th birthday this year. We wanted to ‘pay it forward’ to the one million people we already look after as well as new customers, so everybody has an opportunity to easily manage their health and wellbeing and live a long and healthy life.
“Our unlimited access to Smart Health is for everyone, no matter when they became insured by us or through which distribution channel it was bought. And because we believe in investing in our own team, we’ve given all AIG Life employees access to the service too.”

Customers can book 30 minute appointment to speak to a GMC-registered UK-based GP at any time and from anywhere. Through the Smart Health app, customers can also receive medical advice, a private prescription or a private referral.
Individuals can also receive help from the AIG virtual care app in the form of:
- Have their medical case reviewed by experts;
- Speak to someone regarding mental health support;
- Build a fitness programme;
- Get specialist nutritional advice and build meal plans, and
- Receive an online health check.
