Allianz has extended its partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the official worldwide insurance partner until 2032.

This extension includes the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in the French Alps in 2030 and the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Brisbane in 2032.

The German insurer will continue to manage risks and coverage for organisers, participants and spectators, while also offering mentoring for athletes.

The 2030 and 2032 Games are set to take place in France and Australia, two of Allianz’s core markets, which together contributed more than 10% of the company’s operating profit in 2024.

Since becoming the partner to the Olympic Movement in 2021, Allianz has supported the preparation and delivery of the Paris 2024, Milano Cortina 2026 and Los Angeles 2028 Games.

Additionally, Allianz has been a partner to the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) since 2006 and became a “worldwide paralympic partner” in 2021.

During the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024, Allianz provided insurance coverage and support for athletes and launched campaigns in more than 60 markets globally.

The company implemented a medical assistance programme for 155,000 athletes, staff and volunteers, and offered ticket cancellation insurance, property and liability coverage for numerous sports venues.

Allianz CEO Oliver Bäte said: “We also saw very positive benefits for our business and the Allianz brand. We are therefore delighted – particularly against the backdrop of an increasingly divided world – to extend this successful partnership through 2032 and continue our support for the unifying spirit of the Olympic and Paralympic movements.”

IOC president Thomas Bach said: “We are delighted that following the success of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, we will extend our partnership with Allianz for another four years. Allianz is a world leader in its industry and believes in the Olympic vision of building a better world through sport, and supports our commitment to athletes around the world.”

Allianz reported a net income attributable to shareholders of €2.4bn ($2.61bn) for the fourth quarter of 2024, a 14.9% increase from €2.1bn in the same quarter of the previous year.
