Amwins Global Risks, the international division of the global specialty insurance broker, has appointed Gabriel Ewing as the head of its newly formed Transactional Risk insurance practice based in London.

Ewing has nearly 20 years of legal and mergers and acquisitions expertise, with a focus on complex international deals.

His experience encompasses all aspects of transactional risk insurance including warranty and indemnity, tax and contingent liability risks.

Ewing’s appointment is expected to enhance Amwins’ offerings in traditional transactional risk placements and drive growth in emerging segments such as environmental and intellectual property risks.

Amwins Global Risks CEO Nate Mathis said: “Gabriel is a strong addition to our team. His diverse expertise will be invaluable as we continue to expand our capabilities and provide comprehensive solutions to our clients. Transactional risk liability is a highly complementary addition to our existing product suite in professional and financial lines, enabling us to deepen our client relationships.”

With a background that includes work in emerging and frontier markets, Ewing’s expertise aligns with Amwins Global Risks’ objective of expanding its client base into new markets.

In August this year, Amwins launched the Tees-to-Green flood insurance programme targeting US golf courses, in collaboration with Floodbase.

This programme aims to fill a critical coverage gap by insuring against lost revenue and repair costs resulting from flooding.

The company, known for serving clients and markets in the UK and internationally, places more than $3bn of premium annually into the London and global insurance marketplace.
