US insurance brokerage Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has acquired Encore Insurance Services, operating as Encore Group.  

Financial details of the deal were not revealed.  

Based in Waterloo, Ontario, Encore Group is a retail insurance brokerage that caters mainly to commercial clients in Ontario. It focuses on the manufacturing, construction and financial institutions sectors. 

Encore Group employees including Joe Dalton and Scott Heaman will continue to operate from their existing location.  

They will report to Dave Partington, who leads Gallagher’s Canadian retail property/casualty (P&C) brokerage operations.

This move follows Gallagher’s acquisition of Afina Insurance Advisors last month.  

Afina is a P&C insurance broker based in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, known for its services in the greater Chicago area. 

Additionally, last month, Gallagher acquired Georgia-based Sheila J. Butler & Company (SJB). SJB is known for its services to groups of various sizes in western Georgia, including the greater Atlanta area. 

In December 2024, Gallagher also reached a definitive agreement to acquire AssuredPartners for $13.45bn.

Set up in 2011, AssuredPartners has a diverse client base across commercial, public entity and individual sectors, with nearly 400 offices in the US, the UK and Ireland. 

Headquartered in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, Gallagher offers services in nearly 130 countries globally through owned operations and a network of correspondent brokers and consultants.
