Insurance brokerage Arthur J. Gallagher has acquired Sheila J. Butler & Company (SJB) for an undisclosed sum.
Based in Carrollton, Georgia, SJB specialises in serving groups of varying sizes in western Georgia, including the greater Atlanta area.
The SJB team, led by Sheila J. Butler and Blake Butler, will continue operating from its existing location under the leadership of Gallagher Southeast region employee benefits consulting operations head Colby Paxton.
Commenting on the deal, Gallagher CEO and chairman J Patrick Gallagher, Jr said: “SJB has an excellent reputation for client service and will enhance our existing benefits consulting capabilities and footprint in Georgia. I am delighted to welcome Sheila, Blake and their associates to Gallagher.”
Recently, Gallagher reached a definitive agreement to acquire AssuredPartners for $13.45bn, a transaction that is pending regulatory approval and expected to close in the first quarter of 2025.
It is set to bolster Gallagher’s focus on retail middle-market property/casualty and employee benefits in the US market.

The Scout Benefits team, including Tiffany Davis and Todd Davis, will continue to work from its current office, reporting to Leah Vetter, head of Gallagher Central region employee benefits consulting operations.
