Arthur J. Gallagher, an Illinois-based insurance brokerage firm, has acquired California-based Wheatman Insurance Services for an undisclosed sum.

Wheatman Insurance, established in 1989, provides personal lines and financial services to individuals and families. For businesses, the company offers commercial property/casualty as well as employee benefits coverages.

As part of the deal, Mark Wheatman and his team will now operate from the Woodland Hills office of Arthur J. Gallagher.

They will work under the guidance of Scott Firestone who leads Arthur J. Gallagher’s Southwest region retail property/casualty brokerage business, and Norbert Chung who heads the insurance broker’s Western region employee benefits consulting and brokerage business.

Commenting on the deal, Arthur J. Gallagher chairman, president and CEO J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr. said: “Wheatman Insurance is a leading personal lines specialist in Los Angeles, and will expand the capabilities and expertise of our growing Southwest Region Private Client offering.
