Ascot Group has appointed Marc Amen as the new CEO for its North American operations, effective once he completes his current obligations later this year.
In the new role, Amen will oversee all operational aspects of Ascot’s US and Bermuda insurance and reinsurance companies.
Amen will also join the Ascot Group executive committee and report to group CEO and president Jonathan Zaffino.
He will join Ascot Group from RenaissanceRe, where he managed underwriting and operational aspects of the company’s US platform.
Zaffino said: “Marc brings to us a proven track record of success, leadership and technical execution skills. In partnership with Matt Kramer and Justin Keith, I have every confidence we will accelerate our ability to capitalise on the opportunities in front of us across our North America businesses.
“I have known Marc for many years, and I am excited to welcome him to Ascot Group and to the Executive Leadership team.”
With more than 24 years of underwriting experience, Amen has worked at several reinsurance companies such as Alterra Re, Harbor Point Re and Chubb Re.
Amen commented: “I am excited by this opportunity to lead Ascot’s growing, dynamic businesses in North America. The company has both world-class capabilities and the exceptional talent to execute on our strategic goals.
“I look forward to working closely with Jon, our platform CEOs, and our teams across the US and Bermuda to deliver on our mission to be a perfect partner for a less-than-perfect world.”
The appointment follows promotions within Ascot’s UK claims division.
Last month, the company promoted James Short to the role of chief claims officer, UK, and Christine Neale to head of claims operations, UK.
