When it comes to the use of the internet, which is Australia’s
leading life insurer? According to Australian market research firm
Investment Trends’ inaugural Life Insurer Benchmarking
Report it is Aviva.
Investment Trends’ conclusion was based on a
review of the online offerings of 10 Australian life insurers
across 150 functional areas and a survey of 1,400 financial
planners aimed at determining what is important to them. Aviva was
selected as the overall leader based on its superior online
transactional capabilities.

In second place was Australia’s largest life
insurer AMP Group, which was praised for its work on online
financial planning software.
Commenting on report, Investment Trends
advisory board member Tim Cobb said: “Until recently, only a
handful of insurers had really committed to technology.
“What we are now seeing is all the major
players investing significantly and, for the first time, delivering
real flexibility and usability.”
UK insurer Aviva last year sold its Australian
unit to National Australia Bank.
