In a move aimed at strengthening its growth
prospects in Romania, AXA has turned to US technology giant, IBM
for assistance.
Under the contract IBM will provide systems
integration and management services to assist the French insurer’s
Romanian subsidiary, SC AXA Life Insurance, beef up risk
management, consolidate data and automate several areas of the
insurance process. The project will span four years and be based on
IBM’s Smarter Computing solution launched in 2011.
The objective of the project, according to
IBM, is to streamline SC AXA Life’s business processes, reduce IT
costs and uncover new business opportunities.
IBM will facilitate the project through its
Romanian data centre.
AXA entered Romania in January 2010 through
the acquisition of Romanian insurer Omniasig Life Insurance.
At the time of its acquisition by AXA Omniasig
Life was a minor player, ranking 10th out of 13 insurers in the
Romanian life market.
