Insurance major AXA has launched an online travel health calculator tool that enables travellers with pre-existing medical conditions to calculate their health insurance premiums.
Known as the ‘Travel Health Calculator’, the tool has been developed in association with emergency medical assistance company CEGA.

Leveraging CEGA’s specialist medical screening solution Antidote, the calculator ascertains the level of risk considering the prospects medical history.
The tool also offers ‘thresholds’ for more than 3,000 health conditions such as high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes as well as heart problems.
Following the receipt of the health report that indicates that how their medical conditions can affect their travel insurance search, the prospects are given a list of brokers and insurers. They specialise in offering the particular cover as per their medical requirements.
CEGA head of propositions Angela Smith said: “The Travel Health Calculator offers consumers with pre-existing medical conditions a unique solution to travel insurance uncertainty – and we’re thrilled that AXA is leading the way in its implementation. “
