AXA XL, a unit of French insurance company AXA, has appointed Kathleen Ziegler as the new chief operations officer (COO) for its insurance business in the Americas.
Ziegler has worked for more than 25 years in the industry space, with a history of senior leadership roles at several insurance companies.
Her background includes roles at AIG, Zurich Financial Services, CopperPoint and Blackboard Insurance.
Most recently, at CopperPoint, she served as the senior vice-president of operations, focusing on integrating enterprise infrastructure post-acquisitions.
Before that, she was responsible for fostering broker relationships and developing a commercial insurance start-up at Blackboard Insurance.
In her new capacity at AXA XL, Ziegler will report to AXA XL CEO for the Americas Lucy Pilko.

By GlobalDataHer responsibilities will encompass the management of day-to-day operations across various teams including workplace, middle office (underwriting operations), reporting and premium operations, and underwriting governance.
Ziegler is also tasked with spearheading transformation and technology initiatives throughout the Americas region.
She takes on the role previously held by Jerome Itty, who will step down from his position in July to undertake an assignment with AXA Group in Europe.

Last month, AXA Hong Kong and Macau, another AXA entity, formed an exclusive alliance with HK Express.
This partnership introduced a tailored travel insurance product for the airline’s customers, available through a simple “one-click” option during the flight booking process on HK Express’s website.
