AXIS Insurance has appointed James “Jay” Hamilton as the global head of accident and health insurance, a newly created position.
Based in Chicago, Hamilton will spearhead the firm’s accident and health business in the US as well as international markets. The business offers accident, specialty health and travel-related insurance solutions.

Hamilton, who joined AXIS in 2010, has an experience of three decades in the insurance sector.
He will assume the new role with immediate effect, and will report to AXIS CEO Peter Wilson.
Hamilton spent eight years as the executive vice president and CEO of North America insurance for the accident and health business at AXIS.
He previously had a 10-year stint at Chubb, with responsibility for the firm’s North American accident and health business.
He also worked at CNA, where he was the vice president of group accident insurance and reinsurance product lines in the US and Canada.
