Specialist private equity investor B.P. Marsh and Partners has invested in Volt, a London-based managing general agency (MGA) specialising in energy insurance.
B.P. Marsh gained a 25.5% cumulative preferred ordinary shareholding in Volt, offering up to £2.5m ($3.2m) in equity and loan facilities.
Volt, established by industry veterans Chris Allison, Andrew Tokley and Kevin Cleary, focuses on property risks in power generation and midstream energy for both renewable and non-renewable sectors.
The start-up will operate from London, underwriting a global portfolio with a focus on the US market.
As a Lloyd’s coverholder, Volt has secured A-rated capacity from Lloyd’s and is dedicated to long-term profitability and sustainability.
Volt’s CEO Chris Allison brings 17 years of experience from his role at Travelers Syndicate and prior to that worked at Aegis, Chubb and Allianz.
