Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has established a new office in Milan, Italy, marking a significant expansion of its operations within the European insurance market.
The company has appointed Leonardo Castrichino as country manager to lead its Italian business.

Castrichino, who brings nearly three decades of experience to BHSI, has a background in European insurance, including senior roles at the country and regional levels.
With expertise spanning various commercial lines and business segments, Castrichino most recently served as chief operating officer for the Europe, Middle East and Africa Region (EMEA) at a different insurance company.
BHSI has also appointed Marco Vantellino, with a 20-year stint in the industry, as the new Executive & Professional Lines head in Italy.
Vantellino’s previous role was Financial Lines head for the Mediterranean business at another global insurer.

Tasso was most recently property head for Mediterranean business at another global insurer.
Nicoló Mussi has been appointed as the head of Commercial and Financial Institutions for Executive and Professional Lines.
With more than ten years in the industry, Mussi has held progressively senior underwriting roles in financial institutions, including his most recent position as senior underwriter & financial institutions practice leader at another insurer.
Meanwhile, Chiara Baldissara, previously an underwriting technician at BHSI in London, is taking on the role of operations manager.
Baldissara joined the company in 2017 and will be relocating to Milan for her new role.
