Bishop Street Underwriters, a RedBird Capital Partners portfolio company, has acquired Landmark Underwriting, a specialty-focused managing general agent (MGA) based in London, UK.
The acquisition, first announced in November 2024, represents Bishop Street’s first investment outside of North America and aims to strengthen its platform capabilities.
The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
Landmark, which has been serving clients in the specialty reinsurance market since 2017, offers insurance solutions across various classes including professional indemnity, property, directors and officers, and general liability.
The deal integrates Landmark’s specialised team and leadership into Bishop Street to build an integrated global underwriting business.
The Landmark leadership team comprising Group CEO Sitki Gelmen, Group MD David Ratledge and Group CFO Deepti Janak will continue to lead the company, aiming for growth across the UK, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
It plans to build upon its established market presence and recent expansions into marine and political risk products, with further expansion across new classes and geographies.
Bishop Street CEO Chad Levine said: “We look forward to leveraging the team’s experience and strong industry relationships to enable the next chapter of international development for our platform.
“Landmark’s ability to adapt to client needs and attract the best underwriting talent will continue to fuel its growth, positioning the company as a leading MGA of choice in the global market and a complementary fit for the Bishop Street portfolio.”
Landmark CEO and co-founder Sitki Gelmen said: “We are focused on bringing specialty underwriting solutions to our partners, and through this partnership, we will amplify our ability to provide leading risk solutions to top broking houses worldwide. The combination of Bishop Street’s resources and our niche expertise will allow us to accelerate growth, expand our product offerings into complementary lines of business and deepen our presence in key markets.”
This addition follows recent investments and acquisitions such as Ethos Specialty’s Transactional Liability unit, Verve Services, Conifer Insurance Services and Ahoy!, and partnerships with companies like Skyward Specialty Insurance and Topsail Re.
