Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company has appointed Grant D Ward as its new president and chief operating officer (COO).
Ward will take on the new responsibility on 1 January 2025, becoming the eighth president in the company’s 133-year history.
He will replace Paul A Quaranto, who will retain his roles as CEO and chair of the board of directors.
The decision comes after a succession planning process by the company’s board of directors, which sought guidance from external advisors.
Ward joined the company in 2016, serving in various positions including general counsel & secretary, and executive vice-president – customer experience, claims, legal & compliance, general services and facilities.
Ward previously worked at Deloitte, Dow Lohnes, FINRA, John Hancock Financial Services, MetLife Financial Services, SBLI of Massachusetts and the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
He has also been a participant in industry bodies such as the American Council of Life Insurers and the Life Insurance Association of Massachusetts.
He also engaged as a mentor and volunteer with organisations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts, Conexion and My Brother’s Keeper in Easton, Massachusetts.
Ward said: “I am honoured and humbled by this opportunity to serve as president and COO of Boston Mutual Life. Our company has a rich legacy and a bright future. I look forward to working alongside our talented teams across the organisation to continue driving success and delivering value to all of our stakeholders.”
Quaranto added: “Grant Ward is the right leader at the right time for Boston Mutual Life. His exceptional leadership, deep understanding of our mission and steadfast commitment to our values have been pivotal to the company’s success.”
