Insurance major Chubb has bolstered its Finnish operations by hiring Mikko Ronikonmäki as the company’s commercial lines manager for Finland. 

Ronikonmäki, who has worked in the finance sector for more than 25 years, will operate out of Helsinki and report to Chubb country manager for Sweden and Finland Anna Källs.

His appointment in the new role will be effective from 12 August 2024.  

Ronikonmäki comes to Chubb from LocalTapiola, where he was employed since 2019 as a director, head of industry, energy and renewable energy, and director of customer relations for major corporate clients. 

In his previous position, Ronikonmäki oversaw a group of experts that offered risk management and commercial non-life and life insurance to middle-market and big corporations in the industrial, energy and renewable energy sectors, with an emphasis on green transition projects. 

At Chubb, he will oversee the company’s commercial lines business in Finland and Estonia.

Early last month, Chubb reached an agreement to buy Melbourne, Australia-based managing general agent (MGA) Catalyst Aviation Insurance. 

Announcing the deal, Chubb said Catalyst Aviation would bolster its presence in the Australian aviation insurance industry.  

This announcement followed Chubb’s definitive agreement to acquire Healthy Paws, a US-based pet insurance MGA in April 2024.
