Thornton serves insurers, brokers, MGAs and corporates, offering claims solutions in property, casualty, energy, jewellery, as well as marine and engineering.

The business has three branches, with headquarters in Dublin.

The takeover will result in several changes in the leadership line-up. As part of the deal, Davies senior executive Peter Haran will assume the role of CEO of Davies Claims Solutions in Ireland.

Meanwhile, Thornton CEO John Eves will become chairman in Ireland. Further, Thornton senior executive Conor Kennedy will now serve as the chief commercial officer in Ireland.

Davies group CEO Dan Saulter said: “Having gotten to know John and his team over the past few years, I am delighted that we have been able to bring Thornton and Davies together.

“The Thornton team have an excellent reputation in the Irish market and bring a wealth of specialist skills, knowledge and technical expertise to Davies.”

The latest deal continues Davies’ recent consolidation activities.

A month ago, the firm purchased Alternative Service Concepts, a workers’ compensation and property and casualty third party administrator.

Davies other acquisitions this year include FWD Training and Consultancy, Frontier Adjusters, GBB Holdings, and TopMark Claims Management.
