US-based reinsurer Everest Group has named Jim Williamson as its president and CEO, with immediate effect.

Williamson has been serving as the group’s acting CEO since earlier this month.

He has more than two decades of experience in the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry.

He joined Everest in 2020 as its group chief operating officer (COO) and has since advanced to lead the company’s Reinsurance and Insurance divisions as executive vice-president (EVP) and group COO.

His background includes senior positions at the Hartford, Chubb and ACE, with experience in managing commercial, specialty and consumer business lines both in the US and abroad.

The leadership change follows Juan C Andrade’s departure from his role as president and CEO. Andrade is set to join US financial services company USAA in the same capacity, starting on 2 April.
