Global insurance company Gallagher has introduced a new specialty insurance business in Bermuda, aimed at providing tailored insurance solutions to clients within the region.  

The move is set to capitalise on the growth opportunities in Bermuda, considered a well-known insurance hub.

Gallagher’s new Bermuda-based team will extend the insurer’s existing presence on the island, where it already serves a substantial number of customers and operates treaty reinsurance and alternative risk management through its Artex division.  

This expansion will allow Gallagher to offer a broader range of insurance and risk management expertise such as financial lines, P&C, construction, energy and marine. 

Jasmine DeSilva has been appointed as the managing director of the new specialty business.  

A Bermudian national, DeSilva brings extensive experience to her new role, having served as the commercial director for Artex Capital Solutions since 2021.

Throughout her tenure at Artex, she boosted market share and revenue, underscoring her contributions to business expansion and enhancements in customer experience. 

DeSilva’s previous roles include business development manager for risk and insurance solutions at the Bermuda Business Development Agency and a 13-year stint as a casualty underwriter at Sompo Insurance.  

In her new role, DeSilva will report to Gallagher Global Fac head and P&C Insurance Solutions CEO Malcolm Payton.
