Howden has named Steve Hutchinson as the new chief broking officer for its Hong Kong operations with immediate effect.  

Hutchinson will be responsible for shaping Howden Hong Kong’s strategy and focus on expanding its capabilities in key sectors such as construction, multinational clients and large complex accounts.  

He will also focus on developing placement strategies to support growth. 

Operating out of Hong Kong, he will report to Howden Hong Kong CEO Alfred Sham. 

Before this, Hutchinson served as the senior vice-president and leader of the risk management practice team for Marsh Asia in Hong Kong.  

His expertise lies in risk and insurance advisory for Hong Kong-domiciled multinational companies.

Earlier, Hutchinson held positions within the construction insurance sector, including construction specialty and industry leader for Asia, where he managed the regional construction business strategy and development. 

His background also includes serving as the construction, power and utilities placement leader for Asia.

Last month, the company appointed Rohan Bhappu as the deputy CEO of Howden Asia, with his tenure set to begin in June 2025.  

Bhappu is set to become the CEO of Howden Asia on 1 October 2025.
