Howden Re has hired Thomas Kroely from Aon to serve as its new managing director for Continental Europe.

Kroely’s initial focus will be on supporting the growth of Howden Re in Europe, with plans to build a local team upon fulfilling his current contractual commitments next year.

The expansion of Howden Re in Europe is set to provide clients with customised, value-added services by integrating broking expertise with risk specialists, data analytics, business intelligence and capital advisory offerings in the region.

Kroely previously held the position of client reinsurance director at Aon.

His career also includes more than a decade at Willis Re in London and Paris, where he progressed from a reinsurance broker in the Alternative Solutions team to the head of France, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Kroely’s industry background began with roles as a catastrophe modeller and actuary at Brit Insurance and a financial analyst trainee at Generali France.
