Ledgebrook, a US-based insurtech managing general agent (MGA), has announced the expansion of its professional lines offerings with a new architects and engineers (A&E) insurance product.

The offering is being launched in partnership with Obsidian Insurance

Concurrently, Ledgebrook announced that Carolyn Pearce, with more than 25 years of industry experience, has joined the company as the A&E practice leader.

Her background includes senior roles at Hudson Insurance Group, Argo, Lexington (AIG), and Chubb Insurance, where she focused on driving profitable growth and enhancing risk management strategies.

The new A&E insurance product follows the recent launch of Ledgebrook’s miscellaneous professional liability and allied healthcare offerings, also in collaboration with Obsidian.

Obsidian’s business model involves issuing policies underwritten by MGAs, managing general underwriters, and programme managers, with a focus on a portfolio that includes property, casualty, and specialty insurance programmes.

Ledgebrook’s move into the A&E sector is part of its strategy to broaden its professional liability insurance products.

This expansion is supported by a $24m Series A funding round completed earlier in 2024, which is intended to support the launch of new excess and surplus products, attract industry talent, and invest in Ledgebrook’s proprietary technology.

Ledgebrook chief underwriting officer John Mullen said: “Ledgebrook is thrilled to bring our team’s insurance expertise along with our class-leading tech stack to the A&E market.

“This powerful combination of people and technology will enable us to offer a fast and seamless quoting experience to our current and new Wholesale partners in the A&E space.”

Pearce added: “I am excited to be a part of the Ledgebrook team, launching the Architects and Engineers product.

“By combining industry expertise with the best-in-class technology, Ledgebrook is uniquely positioned to offer our wholesale broker partners an unparalleled service in the A&E space.”
