
Manchester City Football Club has appointed Zurich International Life as its official insurance partner in the UAE.
This regional partnership follows the insurer’s previous sporting relationships within cricket and golf.
Zurich recently partnered with Mumbai City FC, becoming the club’s official insurance partner in India and the UAE.
Speaking on the partnership with Manchester City FC, Zurich Middle East CEO Walter Jopp said: “At Zurich, we are always looking for ways to connect with our communities.
“We are also passionate about sports and promoting a sense of togetherness, and I am very excited to be joining forces with Manchester City on this journey. We are certainly ready for kick-off.”
City Football Group senior vice-president of Global Partnerships Stephan Cieplik added: “We are delighted to launch this new partnership with Zurich International Life. The team has impressed us with their ambition and commitment to empowering the next generation.
“Over the last few years, Manchester City has been able to expand our digital and esports offering and I am pleased that Zurich will be joining us on this journey as we discover new ways in which our audiences engage with the Club.”
Other insurance partnerships in the global sports arena
Earlier this month, German esports organisation Berlin International Gaming (BIG) entered into a partnership with local insurance group die Bayerische.
Last September, The Football Association (FA) announced UK-based medical insurance company Vitality as the new sponsor of The Women’s FA Cup.
In October 2020, Allianz Insurance was named as the official insurance partner of England Rugby.
