MetLife Investment Management (MIM) has appointed Kerry O’Brien as the global head of insurance asset management and liability solutions.  

In this role, O’Brien will oversee the investment strategies for general account and support the growth of MIM’s third-party insurance client channel, while also focusing on liability solutions for various client segments. 

O’Brien will have an active role in managing MetLife’s $414.1bn general account and assets for third-party insurance clients.  

Her previous experience includes a position at Insight Investments, where she managed assets for a diverse range of insurance clients.  

She also held multiple senior investment roles at AIG, including leading the market fixed income and sovereign credit team, managing global portfolio functions across public fixed income markets, and overseeing high-grade assets for AIG Life and Retirement portfolios. 

O’Brien said: “I am excited to join MIM, a world-class asset manager with a rich and diverse platform and long-established relationships in the insurance industry and private markets. In June this year, MetLife partnered with a retirement technology solutions provider Micruity to improve access to retirement income solutions.

It aims to enhance MetLife’s universal digital retirement platform, which simplifies the education, planning and annuity purchasing process for retirement planning. 

MIM has a total of $609.3bn assets under management as of September 30 2024.
