Munich Re has further bolstered its presence in Asian market by opening a new representative office in Bangkok, Thailand.

Commenting on the move, Munich Re Asia Pacific – Japan, Korea, India and South East Asia chief executive Roland Eckl said: “We see Thailand as a strategic growth market in South East Asia, where we have made a long term commitment to our clients.

“This new milestone will enable us to enhance our existing relationships with local and international insurers and develop new partnerships here in 2019 and beyond.”

Munich Re hired Lucien Heijstee as chief representative for Thailand as part of this development.

Prior to Munich Re, Lucien was with Thaivivat Insurance, where he was executive vice president for underwriting and reinsurance, as well as member of the board of management for nearly one deacde.

Prior to that, he worked for the Munich Re Group in various management roles at Euro-Center (Thailand).
