US-based insurance firm Nationwide has partnered with insurtech Samsara to offer video telematics to its excess and surplus (E&S) customers with 11 or more commercial trucks.
Under the partnership, Nationwide will provide the E&S customers with Samsara’s AI-based video telematics solution and fleet management software at a subsidised cost.
This video telematics solution is said to offer commercial truckers protection against costly hazards outside their control and enhance fleet management.
It features inward- and outward-facing dash cameras to enable in-cab feedback for the drivers. These internet-connected cameras also support Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features and auto-upload all incident footage to the cloud.
In addition to video capabilities, real-time GPS fleet tracking and vehicle diagnostics are offered by Samsara’s solution. The customers are also offered a Mobile Driver App with Electronic Logging Device (ELD) data for routing and messaging.
NationwideE&S Commercial Autovice president Gary Flaherty said: “As we continue to listen to our members and partners, we know that our trucking clients seek innovative solutions to protect their drivers, their trucks, their reputations and ultimately, their livelihoods.
