Chicago-based insurance company Old Republic International has set up a new underwriting subsidiary, Old Republic Cyber, to offer Cyber and Technology Errors and Omission (E&O) insurance products.
Old Republic Cyber will focus on coverage in the cyber and technology sectors.
The company has appointed CJ Pruzinsky as president and Kevin McGowan as executive vice-president and chief underwriting officer for the new entity.
Pruzinsky has 18 years of experience in cyber underwriting, having worked at AIG, Beazley and, most recently, Resilience.
McGowan brings 15 years of cyber underwriting experience, with a background at Ace, Beazley, and latterly, Resilience.
Commenting on the formation, Old Republic president and CEO Craig R Smiddy stated: “We are excited to have both CJ and Kevin join Old Republic and expand our underwriting expertise and appetite into new lines of coverage that align with our specialty strategy and our focus on underwriting excellence. We look forward to leveraging both CJ’s and Kevin’s leadership and industry knowledge with the Old Republic brand, resources and financial strength.”

This follows the establishment of Old Republic Accident & Health in September 2023 to provide related insurance products and Old Republic Lawyers Specialty Insurance in April 2023, which provides insurance solutions to lawyers.
Old Republic posted pretax operating income of $229.2m in the third quarter of 2024 and $714.7m for the first nine months.
The General Insurance segment reported a 8.5% fall in pretax operating income for the quarter but experienced an increase of 4.6% for the nine-month period.
