Insurtech company Orion180 has appointed Chris DiMartino as its new chief underwriting officer.  

DiMartino will oversee underwriting, product development, and management for the company’s surplus and personal lines of business. 

In a career spanning 27 years, DiMartino worked across underwriting, actuarial science, and product management within commercial and personal lines property and casualty (P&C) insurance.  

DiMartino was formerly the senior vice president at AAA Northeast and was a key figure at The Hartford, where he managed a $3bn personal lines portfolio. 

DiMartino is a fellow of the casualty actuarial society (FCAS), while also being a chartered property casualty underwriter (CPCU) and a licenced attorney. 

Orion180 CEO and founder Ken Gregg said: “Bringing Chris on board marks a pivotal step in our company’s evolution. His deep expertise in underwriting and product management will be critical in enhancing our portfolio as we continue to aggressively grow product lines and expand to other States.” 

In addition, Orion180’s chief operations officer Ryan Jesenik has been promoted to president, of Insurance.  

Jesenik will continue his duties as COO while taking on the responsibility of leading the company’s growth strategy and ensuring operations are in line with long-term objectives. 

Under his leadership, Orion180 achieved $263m in in-force premium. 

Furthermore, Jesenik played a pivotal role in the launch of Orion180’s homeowners, FLEX, private residential flood insurance products and the development of the MY180 app.
