Pen Underwriting’s specialist home insurance practice has committed to Flood Re’s Build Back Better scheme, a move aimed at bolstering flood resilience for property owners.
The scheme facilitates the installation of flood resilience measures valued at up to £10,000 when homes are being repaired after a flood claim.
It is designed to mitigate the impact of future flooding events by improving the preparedness and protection of properties.
From 1 January 2025, all new and renewing home policies with Pen Underwriting will automatically include the Build Back Better scheme.
Customers who opt to install adaptation measures while repairing flood damage will be reimbursed up to £10,000 towards the costs.
These measures include flood resistance solutions such as flood doors and airbrick covers, as well as resilience improvements such as raised electrical sockets and waterproof flooring, which aid in faster clean-up and reoccupation.
